Empire is a German-British metal band that was founded in 2000 by former Majesty guitarist Rolf Munkes .
Munkes was supported by bassist Neil Murray (ex- Whitesnake / Black Sabbath ), singer Lance King and drummer Gerald Kloos. In this formation the band recorded their first album Hypnotica in 2001 . In 2003 Rolf Munkes released another album, this time with former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin . Keyboardist Don Airey also joined the band for this work. When Rolf Munkes left Majesty in 2006, the third Empire album The Raven Ride was released . With the exception of Don Airey and the new drummer Andrè Hilgers, the band's line-up was identical to the Trading Souls line-up. For the 2007 album Chasing Shadows , Rolf Munkes got a new singer on board - the former Rainbow front man Doogie White .
