Company history

The company emerged from the Kuipers nursery founded in 1954 by Jan Kuipers in De Lutte (Netherlands). In 1962 Jan Kuipers built the first greenhouses. His son Bennie has been active in the company since 1977. The company set up operations in Klazienaveen (1985), Denekamp (1986), Fretzdorf (1998) and finally in Emsbüren (2004), where the company dropped its previous name Kwekerij Kuipers BV and took on its current name Emsflower . In 2013 a location was added in Erica . A rearing farm is located in Moshi ( Tanzania , at the foot of Kilimanjaro ). The owner of Emsflower is Bernardus Gerhardus Johannes ("Bennie") Kuipers from the Netherlands.

Locations

The Denekamp location covers 17 hectares, the Fretzdorf location around 8–10 hectares. The largest location in Emsbüren includes 100 hectares of land, of which around 38 hectares have been built on with greenhouses since February 2012. Over 500 million bedding and potted plants are produced there every year, with a focus on bedding and balcony plants in trays of 10 for discount bulk buyers ( garden centers , hardware stores and grocery chains) throughout Europe. In the main season, up to 300 trucks leave the premises directly at the A30 / A31 motorway junction on a weekend .

Products and services

In addition to its own logistics center, the complex has since March 2006 included the “Erlebniswelt Emsflower” plant adventure park. In April 2014, an 82,000 m² garden shopping center was opened in the immediate vicinity of the greenhouses.

For comparison, the largest German horticultural companies to date: the horticultural center in Papenburg has an annual production capacity of 55 million ornamental plants, Landgard's Nordwest-Blumen in Wiesmoor sells around 38 million plants annually and the Wiesmoor nursery - the largest to date with 8.5 hectares German pot plant company - 4.5 million pieces. Emsflower is about eight times larger than the largest German pot plant nursery to date and increases the total production area in the traditional horticultural stronghold of Weser-Ems by 50%.
