Engelbert Neuhäusler

Engelbert Neuhäusler (born August 18, 1913 in Munich , † August 23, 2011 in Munich) was a German Roman Catholic priest and New Testament scholar .

Life

After graduating from the Wittelsbacher Gymnasium in Munich , Neuhäusler studied Catholic theology in Freising and Munich ; In addition to theology, he also dealt with ancient Semitic languages , art history and German studies . Because he wanted to go to Japan as a missionary , he also studied Japanese studies .

In 1937 he was Cardinal Michael Faulhaber for priests ordained. After his ordination , he worked as a chaplain in Bad Reichenhall , from 1938 to 1947 at St. Maria in Munich- Thalkirchen and from 1947 to 1950 at St. Martin in Munich- Moosach . In 1950 he became sub-rain at the Georgianum in Munich and was state secretary of the Ludwig Mission Association . In 1955 he was with a study of the doctrine of the prophecies in the synoptic Jesus preaching to Dr. theol. PhD . He then became a professor at the Philosophical-Theological University in Dillingen . From 1970 until his retirement in 1981 he taught as professor for New Testament exegesis at the newly founded Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Augsburg . He was one of the 39 translators of the New Testament for the uniform translation .

Numerous trips took him to the Holy Land , about 20 times he traveled to Japan. In retirement he was the spiritual guide of the Benedictine lay community Venio in Munich- Nymphenburg . Engelbert Neuhäusler was buried in the forest cemetery in Munich .
