Engelhard I. Göler of Ravensburg

Engelhard I. Göler von Ravensburg (* June 22, 1570 ; † March 17, 1654 ) comes from the Göler von Ravensburg family , an old noble family from Kraichgau that belonged to the Swabian Imperial Knighthood and its ancestral seat, Ravensburg , near Sulzfeld in Baden-Württemberg lies. He was Obervogt to Durlach and Pforzheim .

Engelhard I was the youngest son of Bernhard II Göler von Ravensburg and Maria von Hirschhorn . From 1603 he was married to Anna Maria von Mentzingen (1582–1641). There were seven children from this marriage, four of whom died young. The sons Georg Bernhard , Engelhard II. And Friedrich II reached adulthood .

Life

After extensive travels through France, Italy and Spain, he held the office of the margravial Baden Ovbervogts of Durlach and Pforzheim from 1604 to 1614. In Pforzheim, Margrave Friedrich V gave him the house at Schlossberg 12, the former court forge, in 1625. In 1609 he had the Middle Castle built in Sulzfeld , which was also known as the Pforzheim Castle due to its activities in Pforzheim . The building was later converted into a rent office ; the renaissance portal and a stair tower have been preserved from the original structure.
