Enos Lyberth

Enos Nicodemus Jakob Lyberth (born May 25, 1931 in Maniitsoq ; † May 16, 2016 ) was a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ).

Life

The son of Ole "Ôlínguaĸ" Holger Gerth Lyberth (1895–?) And his wife Raka Elisabeth Katrine Dahl (1895–?) Were trained as telegraph operators in Nuuk and Denmark .

He was actively involved in the introduction of the Hjemmestyre in 1979. He roamed the entire west coast of Greenland and ended up serving on the Qaqortoq Municipality Council from 1983 to 1993 . In the same year he retired, but became head of the Allu Rest Home , which he remained until 1999. In 1984 he had the old union De Ældres Røst in Qaqortoq co-founded, where he from 1993 to 2002 Chairman, he also held the Old conferences and Knud Rasmussen Højskole the old high schools . From 1995 to 2002 he was President of the Elderly Section of the Inuit Circumpolar Council . In 2002 he was elected to the Inatsisartut , where he sat for one term until 2005.

On August 1, 1990, he received the Nersornaat in silver, in 2004 a token of grace from Queen Margrethe II and in 2011 the honorary award of the Qeqqata communia .

He was married three times: his first wife Marie died young in 1960, his second Amalie in 2013, although he had been married to Rosine since 1998. He left behind children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also the uncle of the famous musician Rasmus Lyberth (* 1951).
