Enrique Ruiz Guiñazú

Enrique Ruiz Guiñazú (* 1882 in Buenos Aires , † 1967 ) was an Argentine politician and diplomat .

Life

Guiñazú studied social sciences and law at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and was a lecturer there from 1912 to 1930. From 1924 to 1930 he was a lecturer at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata .

In 1930 he entered the diplomatic service. At the end of May 1941, Enrique Ruiz Guiñazú made a state visit to the USA to negotiate a trade agreement and was received by Cordell Hull . Subsequently, he was under Ramón Castillo from June 13, 1941 to June 4, 1943 Argentine Foreign Minister.

On October 3, 1939, the Inter-American Neutrality Conference of the OAS took place. At the conference, a cordon sanitaire , called a "neutrality belt", was defined 300 miles from the American continent and the Inter-American Neutrality Committee was formed. The committee met in Havana from January 15, 1940 to May 31, 1940. There were working groups on the topics

  • Protection of the western hemisphere
  • The study of the measures necessary to curb the activities of foreign aliens
  • The measures which might be undertaken by the American Republics in the reconstruction of the world order

educated.

From January 15 to 28, 1942, after the USA entered the war, the committee met in Rio de Janeiro and founded the Inter-American Defense Board . Enrique Ruiz Guiñazú continued to pursue a policy of neutrality for Argentina at this conference. Enrique Ruiz Guiñazú's posting to Spain was the result of a coup by Arturo Rawson . His daughter Magdalena Ruiz Guiñazú is a journalist.
