Enrique Saravia , full name Enrique Ángel Saravia Hernández , (born April 23, 1967 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current union leader and politician.

Football career

The 1.82 meter tall defensive player Saravia was at the beginning of his career from 1986 to at least the second final game for the Recopa Sudamericana in early February 1989 of the team Nacional Montevideos . The "Bolsos" won in this phase, in addition to the Recopa Sudamericana 1989, in 1988 both the Copa Libertadores and the World Cup . From mid-May 1989 he played for LDU Quito in Ecuador . In early 1990 he returned to Nacional and stayed until mid-1992. Then he was active at Club Deportivo Mandiyús until the end of 1992 and completed 22 league games with the Argentines (no goal). In 1993 he was again in the ranks of Nacional Montevideo. In 1994 Defensor Sporting was his employer. In the first half of 1995 a career station at Club Olimpia followed . He left the club from the Paraguayan capital Asunción in favor of the Rampla Juniors . In early January 1997 he moved from there to Club Atlético Cerro . With the Montevideans he played 18 league games by the end of the year and scored three goals. From January 1998, he continued his career for a year in Chile at Everton de Vina del Mar on. At the beginning of 1999 he signed the Club Atlético Rentistas , where he played twelve league games and scored one goal. In the 2000 and 2001 seasons he was a member of the Rocha FC squad in the Primera División . In 2000 he was a member of the Rocha FC team, which played the first professional game in the club's history in the top Uruguayan league against Racing on February 18 that year at the Estadio Luis Tróccoli in Montevideo . In the following two years he continued his career at Colón Fútbol Club and was used in 34 league games (one goal). The last club to run in 2004 was the Alianza Fútbol Club , where it was used three times (no goal) in the league.

Political career

Saravia has been chairman of the Uruguayan football players' union Mutual de Futbolistas Profesionales (MUFP) since 2003 . After the end of his sporting career, he embarked on a career as a politician. In the parliamentary elections in 2014 , he stood as a candidate for the Espacio 609 political group Espacio Celeste within the party alliance Frente Amplio .

After the election, he will be the third deputy of the Member of Parliament Julio Battistoni ( Department of Montevideo ) in the Cámara de Representantes for the legislative period from 2015 to 2020 .
