Ensemble castle with market square (Tüßling)
The ensemble lock with marketplace in Tüßling , a market town in Bavaria, Altötting is an architectural ensemble , under monument stands.
It includes the street market, which was probably laid out in the 14th century in an east-west direction, with the free-standing Catholic parish church of St. Georg from 1725/26 and the castle in the north-west . The market and castle form the core of the former Hofmark Tüßling .
Gothic time
The place received market rights between 1373 and 1379 and created the late Gothic layout of the market square with a completely closed, slightly curved southern row of houses and a north flank that was half open with the old mansion located there . This was upgraded in 1583 by the construction of a four-wing moated castle .
Baroque period
The change in the duality of the castle and the market led to the construction of the baroque St. George's Church to form a new center. The selection of the unique vacancy on the square was a sovereign design process.
19th and 20th centuries
The change in the Gothic appearance of the square caused a fire in the second half of the 18th century. The gardens on the inside facing the square were relocated to the outside and the Mörnbach rerouted through the town in a canalised stream bed. The seamless sequence of the two and three-story, mostly gable-free commercial and residential buildings with horizontal projecting walls or flat, stepped or curved gables still shows the character of the Inn-Salzach construction method today .
