The ensemble Weiler Sankt Kastl in Sankt Kastl , a district of the market town of Reichertshofen in Upper Bavarian district Pfaffenhofen , is an architectural ensemble , under monument stands. It encompasses the hamlet with its late Gothic pilgrimage church of St. Kastulus and the Baroque pilgrimage chapel , which is located in a small clearing and is surrounded by forest fringes .

description

After the Roman martyr Kastulus, according to legend, appeared to a shepherd and healed his sick cattle, the Kastulus pilgrimage took place around 1470 on the Kastlberg .

For centuries, the town of Sankt Kastl was the center of veneration for St. Kastulus as the patron of shepherds and cattle in Hallertau . The Kastulus Church, consecrated in 1447 and dominating the upper edge of the clearing, may have had a previous building.

The pilgrimage chapel from the 17th century and three rural properties are grouped around the church in the steeply sloping terrain. These are mostly renewed gable roof buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, which are surrounded by meadows and hop gardens .
