Entoloma subg. Claudopus , also called stump-foot red rot , is a sub-genus of the genus of red rot , which is divided into the two sections Claudopus and Undata .
The type species is the gray stump-foot rotling ( Entoloma byssisedum ).
features
Characteristic of the species of the subgenus Claudopus are umbilical or lateral fruiting bodies, the lamellae of which often clearly run down the stem. The pigment is encrusting , rarely also intracellular. There are often buckles on the hyphae septa.
Systematics
In 1876, Claude-Casimir Gillet described the genus Claudopus . Henri Romagnesi combined the taxon in 1978 as a subgenus of the genus Rhodophyllus , before the Dutch mycologist Machiel E. Noordeloos the Ug. Integrated into the genus Entoloma in 1981 .
Section Claudopus
The fruiting bodies have a lateral or umbilical-like shape with a typically eccentric, lateral or absent stem. However, some species have centrally stalked fruiting bodies when they are young. The pigment is encrusting, parietal or intracellular and is usually difficult to see in pale species. Buckles on the hyphal septa are either present or absent. Some species have a distinctive odor. The species live saprotrophically or parasitically on the fruiting bodies of other fungi.
