The Entrance Point (English for entry point ) is a headland in the southeast of Deception Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It marks the south side of Neptunes Bellows , the entrance to Port Foster .
The headland was given the descriptive name by the Hydrographic Office of the British Admiralty following surveys carried out by the Royal Navy between 1948 and 1949 under the direction of Lieutenant Commander David Neil Penfold (1913-1991) .
