Decision template

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A decision template is a template that summarizes decision- relevant facts completely and succinctly and serves decision-makers in companies and authorities as the basis for decisions .

General

The decision template is used to prepare decisions. It is provided in the process organization of companies and authorities as information "from the bottom up" and is partially described in work instructions. The body dealing with a specific issue then has the task of summarizing certain information ready for decision -making and presenting it to a decision -maker with decision-making powers. The decision maker can make a decision on the basis of the decision template by approving , modified, or rejecting this template . This means that decision templates are only required for external decisions if the creator of the decision template is not also the decision maker.

content

The decision template should contain all decision criteria that the decision maker needs for his decision. In particular, it has to list the possible alternative courses of action , whereby it may be permissible that it suggests a certain alternative to the decision-maker. So-called "soft" decision documents are kept very general and often deal with strategic issues , "middle" deal with cost - or benefit questions and "hard" cover concrete measures such as cost reduction in personnel costs of production . The decision template should concentrate on the essential relevant points and omit facts that are not relevant to the decision.

function

The decision template is the result of an idea evaluation . It presents the examined alternatives side by side and presents the applicant's assessments with regard to opportunities / risks , costs / revenues or other decision-relevant facts. It regularly contains a recommendation as to which decision should be made.

Organizational issues

Decision templates make sense from an organizational point of view when essential strategic or tactical decisions are to be made and less necessary when only operational daily decisions are pending. However, there are types of companies in which certain issues are part of the daily decisions, but decision templates are created because of their importance. This includes the loan templates for credit decisions in credit institutions , credit insurances or export credit insurances . Since the decision template is an important part of business decisions (such as credit decisions) or official administrative acts, it is subject to retention as a document . There are often standardized templates within an organization for the uniform design of decision templates .

applicant

The authorization to create a decision template is an essential power factor in decision-making processes. Historically, it was the lecturing council that had the right to submit proposals for decisions to the monarch .

Correspondingly , in early constitutionalism , the right of initiative , i.e. the right to submit proposals for decisions on draft laws or the issues that parliament was allowed to deal with, lay not with parliament, but with the government.

Even today, the question of who is allowed to submit decision-making documents is usually defined via the line organization .

Individual forms of decision templates

legislation

The legislative process provides for several steps in the decision-making process, in each of which a decision proposal is created. First of all, a draft bill is drawn up at the level of the relevant ministry . The speaker creates a Entscheidungssvorlage for the minister on this basis. After approval it is a cabinet submission to the Cabinet submitted. He forwards it as a bill to Parliament .

Project management

In project management is called a decision paper on changes in the project change request or English Change Request .

Credit decision process

The credit decision process plays a central role in credit institutions . Depending on the amount of the loan is the credit authority, ie permission, a credit to decide on individual employees, credit committee or the board . The loan application forms the basis of the loan decision as a decision template .
