Epaminondas Deligiorgis

Epaminondas Deligiorgis ( Greek Επαμεινώνδας Δεληγιώργης , also Δεληγεώργης - Deligeorgis ; * 1829 in Messolongi ; † May 27, 1879 ) was a Greek Prime Minister .

Deligeorgis first came to the fore in politics during the revolution (see Greco-Turkish War ) of 1862 and the establishment of the new throne of George I.

Deligeorgis became the leader of a party that wanted to pursue a peaceful policy externally, especially with Turkey, and internally to implement liberal principles in legislation and administration.

After the resignation of 1870 Thrasivoulos Zaimis to 15 December 1870 Prime Minister had been of 22 July 1870, he took over in 1872 again the formation of a cabinet and brought an agreement with the Italian-French company which the silver mines of Laurion had, concluded as a result of which the mines passed to Greece. On February 21, 1874 Deligeorgis was overthrown.

From December 8, 1876 to December 13, 1876 he was again Prime Minister, but took over the Ministry again on March 10, 1877 and followed a peaceful policy during the Russo-Turkish War from 1877 to 1878. He became finance minister on June 1, 1877 , but resigned when the government decided to take part in the war in January 1878.

His political speeches appeared in two volumes in Athens in 1880 .
