The Eparchy of Sokal-Zhovkva ( Latin Eparchia Socaliensis-Zhovkviesis , Ukrainian Сокальсько-Жовківська єпархія Sokalsko-Schowkiwska jeparchija ) is in the Ukraine located eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church , based in Sokal . It includes six Rajone the Lviv Oblast . The area is shown in purple in the northwest of the map below.
history
The eparchy was established on July 21, 2000 from the cession of territory by the Ternopil and the Lemberg Archeparchy , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan . The local ordinary Mychajło Kołtun has been CSsR since it was founded . On September 20, 2006, it took on its current name.
