Eppu Väänänen (born February 15, 1988 ) is a Finnish biathlete .

Eppu Väänänen starts for Sotkamon Jymy . He made his international debut at the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2006 in Presque Isle , where he was 70th of the individual and 27th of the sprint, improved to 14th in the pursuit race and came in fifth with the relay. A year later he was in Martell 27th of the individual, 32nd of the sprint, 25th of the pursuit and 14th with the Finnish relay. Väänänen ran his third Junior World Championships in 2008 in Ruhpolding . In Germany he ran to places 61 in the individual, 36 in the sprint, 50 in the pursuit and six with the relay. The following year , Väänänen took part in a Junior World Championship for the last time in Canmore and finished tenth in the individual, 27th in the sprint, 23 in the pursuit and 16 in the relay. Later in the year he also took part in the roller ski junior races of the 2009 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof and finished 22nd in the sprint and 24th in the pursuit.

Väänänen made his men's debut in 2007 at the Europa / IBU Cup races in Torsby , where he finished 52nd in sprint and pursuit. He achieved his best results in the racing series so far in 2011 in Osrblie with a 48th place in the individual and 46th in the sprint. The first major event in the performance area was the 2010 European Biathlon Championships in Otepää , where the Finn finished 51st in the individual and 64th in the sprint, unable to qualify for the pursuit race. With Ville Simola , Matti Hakala and Marko Nieminen he was also the starting runner of the season 13. At the Biathlon European Championships 2011 in Ridnaun Väänänen finished 62nd in the individual, the sprint race he finished 57th, the pursuer 50th and the Finnish one Relay did not start despite the report.

Since 2005, Väänänen has also competed several times in lower-class cross-country skiing races of the Scandinavia Cup and in FIS races.
