Matti Hakala (born April 30, 1984 in Hämeenlinna ) is a Finnish biathlete .

Matti Hakala from Hameenlinnan Hiihtoseura began his international career at the 2003 Junior World Championships in Kościelisko , where he placed 35th in the sprint and 47th in the individual in his four races. The following year he also took part in the Junior World Championships in Haute-Maurienne and placed 50th in the sprint and pursuit. With the season he reached sixth place. For the third and last time he started in Kontiolahti in 2005 at the Junior World Championships, where he achieved very different results. In the individual he reached Hakala with the 59th place his worst result, better he was 26th in the sprint and 18th in the pursuit. With the Finnish season he came in eighth place.

Hakala has started with the men since 2006. The first major event was the 2006 European Biathlon Championships in Langdorf . The Finn finished 65th in the individual, 24th in the sprint, but fell back to 50th in the pursuit race. With Janne Kantanen , Ville Laitinen and Antti Kajan he finished 15th in the relay race. Since 2008 Hakala has also started in the IBU Cup . He contested his first race in Idre , where he came in 79th place. The Finn achieved his best result in 2010 in Nové Město na Moravě with a 48th place. The highlight of the season was the second participation in the 2010 European Biathlon Championships in Otepää . There Hakala reached a 41st place in the individual, was 44th in the sprint and 51st in the pursuit and came with Eppu Väänänen , Ville Simola and Marko Nieminen on the 13th place in the relay competition. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season , the Finn started in Östersund for the first time in the Biathlon World Cup , where he finished 93rd in an individual.
