Erasto Vasconcelos

Erasto Vasconcelos (born August 12, 1947 in Olinda , † October 27, 2016 in Paulista ) was a Brazilian singer, arranger and composer. He was the brother of the well-known percussionist Naná Vasconcelos , who also died in 2016 .

Vasconcelos is one of the most important representatives of the Pernambucos music scene . In his career, which began in 1965, he worked with Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso and in New York with Stan Getz . In 1977 he recorded the album Stone Alliance with Marcio Montarroyos and Hermeto Pascoal .

In 2005 his first album was released under his own name, Jornal da Palmeira , on which he recorded his own compositions from the last twenty years. In 2008 the album Estrela Brilhante followed .
