Erhard Brunn (born March 6, 1956 in Schwerin ) is a German historian , media maker and consultant for intercultural cooperation. He became known for his contributions to understanding between cultures and religions .

Erhard Brunn's family came from West Prussia, fled west in 1945, gathered in Schwerin. After the father's death (1957), the rest of the family fled via Berlin to Hamburg, where they lived in refugee accommodation. Brunn completed his Abitur in 1974 at the advanced high school Daimlerstraße in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld.

He was involved in the anti-nuclear movement and in founding the Greens . After doing community service at Heidberg Hospital , Brunn studied New and Middle History in Hamburg, where he graduated in 1988 with a thesis on " CIA activities in Central America and the Caribbean in the New York Times - Reporting".

In the following years he worked as a freelance journalist (especially for church or church-related media). On a voluntary basis, he was primarily active in the Christian-Muslim dialogue in his Hamburg-Altona district and in the editorial collective for Development Policy Correspondence (EPK). In 1994 he moved to Frankfurt.

Between 1996 and 2000 he worked in the information department for the German Development Service (DED) in Uganda , and from 2003-2005 in Niger . In between, he worked for the NGO Germanwatch , which specializes in global climate issues, with a domestic DED contract. In 2007 he returned to Uganda (again for DED) to document the work of the ARP (“Arua Refugee Program”) settlements that were about to be closed. It is a large settlement project of the UN refugee organization UNHCR for southern Sudanese in northern Uganda. During that time, Brunn had founded a private project in Christian-Muslim dialogue for the German Development Service in Uganda, the journal “Together”. a. with his financial and editorial support until 2015.

Between 1999 and 2003 he managed to spark a debate about the possibilities of interreligious cooperation in development cooperation. Later he was helpful to achieve cooperation in the social field between Christian and Muslim organizations. Interreligious environmental protection and Fairtrade -Interreligious were further stations.

In intercultural media dialogue between 1997 and 2000 he focused on East African-German media dialogue, from 2007 until today German-Turkish media dialogue with increasing consideration of Arab media makers who came to Germany in recent years, or media that support them, as well as new German-Arab ones Media. Erhard Brunn has been coordinator of the “Round Table of German and Turkish Journalists Rhein-Main” since 2007, and “Round Table for Intercultural Media Dialogue Rhine-Main” since 2015.
