Erhard Louven (born August 10, 1938 in Kempen , Niederrhein) is a German economist .

Life

After several years of commercial activity in various European companies ( controlling , export ), Louven studied economics and sociology at the Ruhr University Bochum from 1969 to 1975 . From 1975 to 1981 he was an assistant in the Department of East Asian Studies and at the Institute for Development Research and Development Policy. From 1981 to 1989 he was a scientific advisor for the field of "East Asian Economy" at the Institute for Asian Studies in Hamburg .

From 1989 to 1990 he lectured as a visiting professor at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , and from 1991 he was a university professor and head of the East Asia Institute at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. In 2003 Erhard Louven retired .

Louven has published countless works on the subject of East Asian economics - especially on the economic transformation of the People's Republic of China , and since the mid-1990s also scientific studies and works on the subject of the Lower Rhine economic and cultural region .

Erhard Louven lives in Kevelaer .
