Erhard Oeser

Erhard Oeser (born June 18, 1938 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is an Austrian scientific theorist .

Life

After studying philosophy in Munich and Vienna , he earned his doctorate in 1962. phil., completed his habilitation in 1968 and in 1972 became full professor of philosophy and philosophy of science at the University of Vienna . From 1994 to 2004 he headed the Institute for Philosophy of Science and Science Studies at this university, and from 2005 to 2006 the Institute for Philosophy of Science.

Together with the Viennese biologists Rupert Riedl and Franz Wuketits , he addressed the general relevance of evolutionary epistemology and, with Hans Hass, the energon theory .

His early research was about information technology , v. a. in terms of language, terminology and standardization. In the processing of language he dealt with neurology and brain research on both a technical and intellectual level , he worked closely with the neurologist Franz Seitelberger .

Inter- and transdisciplinarity are particularly important to him. In his most recent works he dealt with the cultural history of the human-animal relationship, most recently with the roots of xenophobia .
