Eric Achermann
Eric Achermann (born May 9, 1962 in Wädenswil ) is a Swiss Germanist and has been Professor of Modern German Literature at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster since 2004 .
After graduating from high school , Achermann studied German , Romance studies and history in Bern , where he obtained his doctorate in 1994 on the relationship between monetary value and aesthetic theory. In 2000 he completed his habilitation on the history of European autobiography in the early modern period (1450 to 1820). From 1990 to 2000 Achermann was assistant to Wolfgang Proß at the chair for modern German literature at the University of Bern . After his assistantship and until his appointment to the University of Münster, he held several professorial positions and headed the project “'ordo naturalis' and 'ordo artificialis'” funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. His current research focuses on the relationship between literature and the history of knowledge, especially in the early modern period, as well as literary theory .
