Eric Leiderer (born December 16, 1972 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German trade union official and has been the mayor of Aschaffenburg since 2020 .

Life

After graduating from school, Eric Leiderer completed an apprenticeship as a cutting machine operator in 1988 . In this profession and as an assembly fitter, he worked for more than ten years at Linde in Aschaffenburg. His full-time entry at IG Metall was followed by various training courses such as project management , process design, organizational psychology and law , as well as individual labor law. From 2007 to 2009 he trained as a systemic consultant . In January 2018 he completed a certified degree in general management in St. Gallen .

With the start of his vocational training, Eric Leiderer joined IG Metall. As a youth and trainee representative , he was active in various trade union committees before serving as a works council in his last year at Linde .

In 1999, Eric Leider became a full-time union secretary at IG Metall in Nuremberg with a focus on youth, education and recruiting. For a short time he worked in the IG-Metall board department youth work and policy in Frankfurt before moving to the IG-Metall district of Bavaria in Munich in March 2006, again with a focus on youth and vocational training.

From March 2008 to November 2014, Eric Leiderer was the head of the youth department on the board of directors at IG Metall headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. Together with his colleagues, he coordinated youth work in the seven districts of IG Metall in his role as Federal Youth Secretary.

Under the aegis of Eric Leiderer, the "Operation Takeover" campaign enshrined the permanent takeover of trainees in the collective bargaining agreement - the first ever youth demand. The follow-up campaign Revolution Education fights against the trend towards a shortage of education time, for a free education system with fair access opportunities and the same high quality for everyone. In addition to the IG Metall Jugend campaigns, IG Metall Jugend # youth campaigns .

From December 2014 to April 2020 he worked as political secretary, among other things as head of organizational development on the IG Metall board.

In May 2020, Leiderer became mayor of Aschaffenburg, where he heads the department for digital strategy, personnel management and central services.

Unfortunately, he is a member of the SPD and on the executive board of the SPD city association and the SPD sub-district of Aschaffenburg , where he is secretary. He is the managing director of the Schweinheim gymnastics club . In addition, he is chairman of the Schweinheim association, to which 46 organizations (associations, churches and political parties) belong.
