Eric S. Nylund (born November 12, 1964 in Panorama City , California ) is an American author . He achieved fame primarily through his Halo novels.

Nylund has a university degree in chemistry and chemical physics . In 1994 he took part in the Clarion Science Fiction Writers' Workshop and has subsequently published several novels, including the cyber thrillers A Signal Shattered and Signal to Noise , the science fantasy novel A Game of Universe , the fantasy novels Pawn's Dream , Dry Water and also the official novel for the game Crimson Skies with Mike Lee , Eric S. Trautmann and Nancy Berman . Dry Water was nominated for the 1997 World Fantasy Award .

Today Nylund lives with the science fiction writer Syne Mitchell in North Bend ( Seattle ). He worked on the graphic novel Halo Wars : Genesis with Phil Noto and Graeme Devine . It was released in 2009 in the Halo Wars Limited Edition . Another comic was for the Battlestar Galactica series , it was released in June 2009 in English with the title The Cylon Wars co-written by Joshua Ortega , Nigel Raynor and Stephen Segovia .

In 2009 his first novel in the new series Mortal Coils appeared in English, which was published in German in 2010 with the title Gemini - Der goldene Apfel . In the same year, the seventh volume in the Halo series was published in German with the title Halo Evolutions: Short Stories from the Halo Universe , which Nylund wrote together with Tobias S. Buckell , Karen Traviss and Jeff VanderMeer .

In the fall of 2015, an animated film adaptation of his novel Halo: The Battle for Reach was released under the English title Halo: The Fall of Reach .
