Eric Orbom

Eric Orbom (born July 6, 1915 - May 23, 1959 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American art director and production designer who posthumously won the Oscar for best production design in the color film Spartacus (1960) at the 1961 Academy Awards .

Life

Orbom began his career as art director in the Hollywood film industry in 1950 with the film Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion and was involved in the production of 36 films until his death.

Along with Alexander Golitzen , Russell A. Gausman and Julia Heron he won posthumously at the Academy Awards 1961 Oscar for Best Production Design in the only 1960 finished this historical and monumental film Spartacus by Stanley Kubrick with Kirk Douglas , Laurence Olivier and Jean Simmons in the lead roles .
