She is the daughter of Eric Barnes, a former football player of the University of Oregon . She attended Sacramento High School and studied at the University of Arizona from 2010 to 2014 . Erica Barnes has two sisters and one brother.

From 2010 to 2014 Erica Barnes played on the Arizona Wildcats, the University of Arizona female basketball team.
She started her professional career in Germany , where she was signed by the first division club Herner TC in 2014 . With Herne she took second place in the Bundesliga round behind the series champion TSV 1880 Wasserburg and was third in the championship after the play-offs. In the cup competition she was able to achieve third place with the Herner TC in the TOP4 in Herne , Germany. For the 2015/2016 season she moved to the Cypriot first division club Athlitiki Enosi Lemesou.
