from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The " Erich Ponto Prize for Outstanding Artistic Achievement" has been awarded to young actors in the ensemble of the Dresden State Theater since 1999 by the State Theater Association Dresden e. V. and is endowed with 5000 euros.

It is named after the famous theater and film actor Erich Ponto , who worked as an actor and director in Dresden from 1914 to 1947 . The prize was awarded annually until 2004, and since then only every two to three years. The prize winner will be proposed by the director of the Staatsschauspiel, and no application is planned. In 2018, a sculpture was presented to the winner for the first time.
