Erich Achmüller

Erich Achmüller (born June 30, 1946 in Campo Tures ) is a South Tyrolean politician.

Achmüller attended elementary school in his home town of Sand in Taufers and secondary school at Vinzentinum in Brixen . After graduating from high school in Merano , he completed language and literature studies, which he completed in 1972. He then worked as a teacher.

Achmüller became politically active in 1968 in the local branch of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) in Kematen . Within the SVP, he took on various functions at both district and state level. In 1975 he was one of the leading co-founders of the party workers' wing, which he chaired until 1989. In 1973 Achmüller was elected to the South Tyrolean state parliament for the first time, and at the same time to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . From 1979 to 1981 and briefly from December 1983 to May 1984 he was President of the State Parliament; from 1981 to 1983 and from 1986 to 1987 he served as regional council president (from 1978-1981 and 1984-1986 he served as regional council vice-president). In 1987 he became a member of the South Tyrolean provincial government as a provincial councilor , to which he belonged until 1999 - initially under Governor Silvius Magnago ( Cabinet Magnago VI ), later under Luis Durnwalder ( Cabinet Durnwalder I and Durnwalder II ). During these years, he was initially responsible for the human resources, data processing and civil protection departments, later human resources, data processing, environment and youth, and finally environment and work.
