Erich Bender (composer)
Erich Bender (born May 5, 1913 in Frankfurt am Main ; † November 13, 2002 ) was a German choir director and composer .
Bender first studied music at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main . In 1955 he became known throughout Germany with the NDR children's choir, which he founded . Several sound carriers with well-known German nursery rhymes and Christmas carols have been published. In response to legal proceedings in which Bender ultimately admitted inappropriate contacts with underage members of his choir, the NDR disbanded the choir in 1969. In addition, Bender wrote radio play music (e.g. for all fairy tale radio plays by Sándor Ferenczy ) and film music , such as for Eugen Schuhmacher 's film documentaries Im Schatten des Karakoram (1954), Canada - In the Land of the Black Bears (1958), The Last Paradises (1967) and Europe's paradises (1973).
