Erich Hösel

Erich Hösel (born April 5, 1869 in Annaberg in the Ore Mountains , † December 29, 1953 in Meißen ; full name: Oskar Erich Hösel ) was a German sculptor and modeller.

Life

Erich Hösel began studying at the Dresden Art Academy in 1886 . From 1889 he studied with Johannes Schilling and from 1892 to 1895 in Robert Diez's studio . From October 1899 to August 1903 Hösel worked as a teacher at the Kassel Art Academy . He was appointed professor in 1904 .

From 1903 until his retirement in 1929, Erich Hösel worked at the Meissen porcelain factory , and in 1912 he became head of the design department. In the years from 1904 to 1918 alone he created one hundred models with animal, child and Indian figures, portraits and genre figures.

Erich Hösel went on study trips to Greece , Constantinople and Asia Minor in 1898/1899 , later to Belgium , France , Denmark , Sweden and Great Britain and in 1904 to North America . Hösel was a member of the Dresden artist group in 1913 and the Economic Association of Visual Artists in Dresden .
