Erich Kroner (* approx. 1888; † 1937 ) was a Prussian construction clerk and German sports journalist .

Life

Government Builder

Erich Kroner initially studied architecture, possibly at a Berlin university. He finished his studies with the degree of a graduate engineer . As a government building supervisor, he applied for admission to the second state examination , which he passed in November 1915 with subsequent appointment as government building master for building construction in Berlin. In October 1916, Kroner was transferred to the Royal Government in Königsberg as a government master builder in the Prussian Ministry of Public Works . From there he moved to Berlin in September 1919. At his own request, he resigned from civil service in July 1920.

Draftsman and sports journalist

Kroner had applied for his release to work as a draftsman and caricaturist at bike races and boxing events . In 1923 he became editor-in-chief of the illustrated cycling sport ( Illus ). In addition, he acted several times as the sports director of six-day races and other bike races in Berlin and also spoke radio reports.

Because of his Jewish origins, Erich Kroner was replaced as editor-in-chief of Illus in February 1933 ; his successor was Fredy Budzinski , who had to leave this position after a year because he was married to a " non-Aryan " woman. Erich Kroner was later arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned in Sachsenhausen concentration camp . There his kidney disease worsened, so that after his release from prison in 1937, he died at the age of 49.
