Career
society
Stângaciu's career began in 1982 with FCM Brașov in his hometown. There he came only to a few missions and had to relegate with his club at the end of the 1982/83 season . In 1984 he signed record champions Steaua Bucharest . There he was initially in the shadow of Helmuth Duckadam . He experienced the win of the European Cup from the bank. It was only after Duckadam's career ended in 1986 that he became number one in goal and won the UEFA Super Cup with his club . Before he moved to FC Olt Scorniceşti in the summer of 1988 due to the commitment of Silviu Lung , he won the Romanian championship four times and the Romanian cup three times with Steaua.
After a year in Scorniceşti, Stângaciu returned to Steaua. Initially he was Lung's deputy before Lung left the club in the summer of 1990. Stângaciu was again a goalkeeper and was able to win three more championships and a cup by 1995. Stângaciu joined the Turkish first division club Vanspor . A year later he signed Kocaelispor , where he won the Turkish Cup in 1997 . In 2001 he ended his active career.
National team
Stângaciu was used five times for the Romanian national team between 1992 and 1998 . He made his debut on September 7, 1994 in the European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan , when he came on in the 85th minute for Bogdan Stelea . Then he did not play for more than two years before he was back between the posts on March 29, 1997 in the World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein . After two more appearances in friendly games, Anghel Iordănescu nominated him for the 1998 World Cup in France, where he was not used.
Trainer
After the end of his active career, Stângaciu worked in Russia as the goalkeeping coach of Dan Petrescu - initially from 2009 to 2012 at FK Kuban Krasnodar , from 2012 at FK Dynamo Moscow . He later followed Petrescu on his stations at al-Arabi in Qatar, ASA Târgu Mureş and Jiangsu Suning before the duo returned to Krasnodar. He has been without a club since October 2016.
