Erich Loewy
Erich Hans Loewy (* 31 December 1927 in Vienna , † 26. October 2011 in Sacramento ) was an Austrian - American cardiologist and bioethicists .
Life
After the annexation of Austria in 1938, Erich Loewy emigrated to the United States via England . He completed his training as a cardiologist, but after 14 years changed the subject "because it was too boring for him" and specialized in bioethics with a focus on social justice . Loewy has held chairs in bioethics at the University of Illinois and the University of California, Davis .
Publications
Over 120 peer reviewed articles, eleven books and many chapters in other books.

- 2003: Prize of the Geriatric Society for Humanistic Age Research
- 2003: Gold Medal of Honor of the City of Vienna
- 2008: Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, 1st class
