Erich Rosendahl (born March 20, 1866 in Wolfenbüttel , † January 4, 1952 in Hanover ) was a German homeland researcher , journalist and author of several books on the history of Lower Saxony . Before his name change in 1925/26, he had the surname Rosenthal .

Live and act

Erich Rosendahl, the son of a Wolfenbüttel city judge, attended the grammar school in Blankenburg , where he passed the Abitur in 1886. Nothing is known about his subsequent studies.

After graduating, Rosendahl worked as a journalist in Hanover, where he was a theater, music and opera critic for the Hanoverian Gazette . From 1922 (?) He worked as editor of the Hannoversche Landeszeitung . He was probably a member of the Welfisch monarchist German-Hanoverian party ("Welfenpartei").

Rosendahl was described as a “fighter for Guelph federalism” who wrote about history “from the Guelphic spirit”. He wrote numerous writings on the history of Lower Saxony. His two books on "Lower Saxony Women" (1929) and "Lower Saxony Literature History" (1932) are characterized as material and knowledgeable accounts that, despite some weaknesses, have opened up new territory for the history of Lower Saxony.
