Erich Silla

Erich Silla (born July 10, 1925 in Eisenkappel , † 2002 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian and regionally active politician in Carinthia ( FPÖ ).

Life

According to Jörg Haider, Silla, a Windischer , a Slovenian-speaking Carinthian , turned to the FPÖ because his family had been in conflict with the partisans and suffered severe blows as a result. He achieved the rank of lieutenant in the Wehrmacht and, after the war, practiced the profession of elementary and secondary school teacher , including in Sittersdorf , Eberndorf and Griffen , and later as director. He married his wife Erika in 1948 at the latest; a son was born on June 20, 1948.

Silla was from 1956 to 1984 from the 19th Carinthian Landtag to the 24th Carinthian Landtag , and for a time as FPÖ club chairman . In addition, he was FPÖ district chairman for Völkermarkt and chairman of the Freedom Teachers' Association . He acted as a liberal negotiator in the Carinthian place-name sign question .
