Erich Ude (born January 3, 1931 in Hanover ; † March 25, 2018 in Nuremberg ) was a German actor on stage and television.

Live and act

After completing his artistic training, Ude made his debut at the Lüneburg Theater in the early 1950s in 1951. The following year he moved to Hildesheim for several seasons. Via Braunschweig, the Hanoverian reached Nuremberg at the end of the decade, where he finally settled and was a member of the municipal theater ensemble for the following decades. In addition, he also worked intensively for radio. Blessed with a sonorous voice, Ude also appeared as a speaker and reciter.

From the mid-1960s to the early 1970s, Erich Ude occasionally received offers for roles in television productions. In the role of a colonel, he appeared in 1970 in the critically acclaimed mountain and rebel drama Jaider - the lonely hunter . In front of the camera, Ude often embodied persons of respect (officers, nobles and inspectors). From 1973 he completely concentrated on theater work again. In recent years Ude, “a literature fan and a committed campaigner against fascism and for peace”, has also been active against neo-Nazi tendencies in Nuremberg and read from Paul Celan's “ Death Fugue ” at a public demonstration .

In recognition of his services, Erich Ude was awarded the City of Nuremberg's Citizen Medal in 2011 ; In 2016, on his 85th birthday, a reception was given in his honor in Nuremberg.
