Erich Ziegler (politician)

Erich Ziegler (born March 13, 1915 in Schweinfurt , † March 19, 1995 in Würzburg ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Ziegler first completed a commercial apprenticeship and began studying at the Administration and Business Academy in Würzburg in 1933, which he completed in 1936 with the second specialist examination for administrative employees and with an administrative diploma. At the same time, he carried out various commercial activities. Furthermore, he was involved in the Catholic youth since 1929 and became a youth leader in 1931. He did Reich Labor Service in 1936 , military service from 1937 and took part in World War II as a soldier from 1939 to 1945 . He was most recently taken prisoner by the United States, from which he was released in 1946.

After his release from captivity, Ziegler worked in the public service at the district offices in Schweinfurt, Hofheim in Lower Franconia and Lohr am Main and as a refugee and housing department manager in Würzburg. From 1957 to 1980 he worked for the government in Lower Franconia . In addition, from 1950 to 1958 he was a board member of the non-profit building cooperative Lohr.

Political party

Ziegler was one of the founding members of the CSU in 1946 , joined the Junge Union (JU) in the same year and became chairman of the Schweinfurt JU district association. From April 28 to October 1, 1951, he was the 2nd chairman of the CSU local association Lohr, where he worked as the head of the refugee office at the Lohr district office. In 1959 he was elected to the board of the CSU district association of Lower Franconia and was a member of the regional committee of the Christian Socials. In addition, he was a co-founder of the state political working group at Rothenfels Castle , whose conference chair he was from 1953 to 1957. From 1955 to 1977 he was chairman of the Christian Social Workers' Union (CSA) Lower Franconia and from 1958 to 1980 deputy regional chairman of the CSA Bavaria .

MP

Ziegler was a member of the German Bundestag from April 1, 1963, when he replaced the resigned MP Gerhard Wacher , until 1980. He was always drawn into parliament via the Bavarian state list.
