Gerhard Wacher

Gerhard Wacher (born November 29, 1916 in Vienna , † October 28, 1990 in Konradsreuth ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and graduating from secondary school in Jägerndorf in 1934 , Wacher began studying agriculture at the German Technical University in Prague , which he completed in 1939 with the second state examination. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .

After the end of the war, Wacher moved to West Germany , entered the Bavarian civil service and worked as an economic advisor at the Agricultural Office in Hof from 1946 . In 1948 he passed the state examination at the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry. He then worked as a trained farmer and engineer again in Hof, from 1948 to 1951 as an agricultural assessor, since 1952 as an agricultural councilor and finally as an agricultural councilor. In January 1967 he became spokesman for the board of Bayerische Berg-, Hütten- und Salzwerke AG. He was also a member of the BR Broadcasting Council from 1970 to 1973 .

Political party

Wacher joined the CSU in 1949. He had been chairman of the CSU district association in Hof since 1951 and was elected deputy chairman of the CSU district association of Upper Franconia in 1953. He was also a member of the executive state board and the presidium of the Christian Socials.

MP

Wacher was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 until his resignation on March 26, 1963. From 1954 until he left parliament he was the parliamentary manager of the CSU regional group and thus also of the Union faction in the Bundestag. In the second and fourth legislative periods he entered parliament via the Bavarian state list, in the third electoral period he obtained a direct mandate in the constituency of Hof . Wacher was a member of the Bavarian state parliament from 1966 to 1974 and chaired the committee for border issues there from 1970 to 1974. From 1972 to 1984 he was also a member of the district council of Hof .

Public offices

Wacher served from December 11, 1962 to December 5, 1966 as State Secretary in the State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Transport in the government of the Free State of Bavaria led by Prime Minister Alfons Goppel .
