Erik Christian Henriksen (born April 8, 1958 in Champaign , Illinois ) is a former American speed skater .

Henriksen grew up in Milwaukee , Wisconsin and mainly competed in international competitions between 1979 and 1988. He had specialized in the short distances and took part in seven speed skating sprint world championships. In 1981 in Grenoble and 1982 in Alkmaar he reached places 13 and 11 in the all- around competition, a year later in Helsinki he came in sixth place in the all- around top ten for the first time . Henriksen qualified for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , where he competed over 500, 1000 and 1500 meters. He finished 20th, 11th and 21st. At the speed skating sprint world championship in 1985 in Heerenveen , he was third in the second run over 500 and 1000 meters, but was only able to place 31st overall. In the following years he reached places 21 ( 1986 ), 9 ( 1987 ) and 5 ( 1988 ) at the sprint world championships . Also in 1988 he took part in the Winter Olympics in Calgary . In the competition over 500 meters, he finished 15th. In the course of his career, Henriksen reached ten podium places over 1000 meters and three times over 500 meters, but was never able to win an international competition.

Henriksen attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and studied law. However, he never practiced as a lawyer and instead worked as a writer .
