Erik Hulthén

Erik Vilhelm Hulthén (born September 19, 1891 in Helsingborg , † 1972 ) was a Swedish physicist.

Hulthén received his doctorate in 1923 at the University of Lund with Manne Siegbahn on the combination relationships among the band spectra and was then a lecturer in Lund until 1927, from 1925 to 1927 with a scholarship at Michigan State University , 1927/28 with Niels Bohr in Copenhagen and from 1929 professor for experimental physics at Stockholm University . In 1959 he retired.

From 1929 to 1957 he was a member of the Nobel Committee for Physics.

From 1931 he was a member of the Royal Swedish and from 1951 of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences . In 1953 he was appointed a member of the Royal Physiographical Society in Lund .
