Erik Kvernberg made his debut in the Telemark World Cup on January 26, 2016 in La Plagne, France . He immediately scored his first World Cup points by reaching the sixteenth-finals in the parallel sprint. At the Telemark Junior World Championships 2016 in Les Contamines-Montjoie , an eleventh place in the sprint was his best result. He finished his first World Cup season in 44th place overall. In the following year he was able to place in the Classic of Rjukan in ninth place for the first time among the top ten of a competition in the World Cup. A ninth place in the Classic was also his best result at the 2017 Junior World Championship . In addition, after the World Cup season he also took part in the Telemark World Championship 2017 in La Plagne and was 15th in the Classic, 17th in the sprint and retired in the parallel sprint in the first round.
