Erik Tysse (born December 4, 1980 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian athlete who has achieved top placements in international championships in both 20 km and 50 km walking .

Erik Tysse won his first Norwegian championship title in the 5000 meter track walking in 2000, in total he won over twenty national championship titles, on the Olympic 20-kilometer route he won from 2001 to 2003 and 2005 to 2008. (As of December 31, 2008)

After a 17th place over 20 km at the 2002 European Championships and 19th place at the 2003 World Championships , Tysse did not take part in the 2004 Olympic Games. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 he reached place 13 over 20 km, the following year he finished seventh at the European Championships in Gothenburg . In 2007, at the World Championships in Osaka , Tysse started on both distances for the first time. After an eighth place over 20 km, he finished fifth over 50 km. Also at the Olympic Games in 2008 he finished fifth over 50 km after having only reached 21st place over 20 km. At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, he finished seventh over 20 km.

In 2010, at a competition in Italy, his doping test was positive for CERA ( EPO ) and he was banned for two years.

At a height of 1.90 meters, his competition weight is 69 kilograms. His sister Kjersti Plätzer is also a successful walker.
