Kjersti Tysse Plätzer (born Tysse ; born January 18, 1972 in Os , Hordaland ) is a former Norwegian walker . The three-time Olympic participant was not only successful in walking 20 kilometers , but also on shorter distances.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, she won the silver medal behind Wang Liping (CHN) and in front of María Vasco (ESP).

Kjersti Plätzer won 45 Norwegian championships. She holds the Norwegian record for walking the tracks on the 3000 m, 5000 m and 10,000 m as well as 3000 m in the hall and for walking on the streets on the 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, 15 km and 20 km routes. She set up world bests in rail walking over 1500 meters and a mile.

At the Junior European Championships in 1985 she was ranked 11, 1986 5th place at the Junior World Championships at the European Championships in 1986 she was a fourteen-year-old already Eleventh, twelve years later at the European Championships in 1998 was her ninth after a disqualification in the EURO 2002 was she fourth in Gothenburg in 2006 .
