Erika Kickton

Erika Kickton (born May 21, 1896 in Berlin-Schöneberg ; † September 28, 1967 in Wiesbaden ) was a German journalist , musicologist and composer .

Life

Erika Kickton was born in Berlin as the daughter of the church builder Arthur Kickton . In the 1920s and 1930s she lived with her partner in Locarno-Monti , Switzerland. In her work Character Studies, she briefly addressed “noble communism” on Monte Verità, which is adjacent to Locarno . In 1942 she had her residence in Potsdam-Neubabelsberg . During the period of National Socialism she was imprisoned for two weeks for refusing to give the Hitler salute.

In 1947 she received her doctorate with the dissertation The Problem of Consonance for Dr. phil. In 1963 she taught character studies at the University of Frankfurt am Main .
