Erkki Puolakka

Erkki Puolakka ( Erkki Mikael Puolakka; born May 17, 1925 in Tervo , † December 22, 2008 in Äänekoski ) was a Finnish marathon runner .

In 1951 he won the Turku Marathon in 2:30:53 h.

In 1951 he was Finnish champion in 2:29:02 h and qualified for the Olympic Games in Helsinki , where he was eighth in 2:29:35 h. In autumn he won the Košice marathon in 2:29:10 h.

The following year he defended his national title in 2:28:42 h. In 1954 he was third in the Boston Marathon in 2:24:25 h and the Finnish runner-up in 2:30:57 h. A fourth place at the European Athletics Championships in Bern in 2:26:46 h was followed by a victory in Košice in 2:27:21 h and third place at the Asahi Marathon in 2:29:17 h.
