The ErlebnisWald Trappenkamp is a nature and wildlife adventure park near Daldorf and Trappenkamp in Schleswig-Holstein . It extends over an area of more than 100 hectares and presents forest topics in various adventure areas. As the forest educational center of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the ErlebnisWald Trappenkamp is an extracurricular learning location for the interplay of ecology , economy and social issues. It is an educational center for sustainability and wants to combine leisure experience and educational mandate.

Experience spaces

There are various opportunities to get to know nature and the forest on the site. The 1700 square meter WaldWasserWelt, the Wichtelwald, the wooden play area and the family adventure trail are designed for children aged four to six. For older children there is a ground adventure trail and a butterfly garden. There is also a natural playground and the "Western Fort".

From March to October a falconer shows the biology and way of life of birds of prey in two flight demonstrations every day in the “Eagle Arena”. The exhibition “Fascination Forest” in the Waldhaus offers an insight into forest management. On certain dates, encounters with a pack of sled dogs and dog team rides are offered. In the spring there is a medieval market, often combined with a reenactment event. A forest camp for overnight stays and a high ropes course complete the offer.

Leisure activities

There are numerous barbecue huts, barbecue areas and the large terrace of the restaurant as well as football and volleyball fields and a goat petting zoo on the site.

The TeamTower is a 30 meter high climbing and observation tower built in 2014 on the site of the Adventure Forest . It consists of local Douglas fir and larch wood and has two viewing platforms ten and 26 meters high. The lower platform can be reached with a spiral staircase , the upper one with a net chimney. The descent can be made either by a secured descent on the scaffolding of the tower, back through the climbing chimney or via a 300 meter long zip line. The "squirrel jump" from the lower platform is made possible with a special device. Various climbing devices can be used in the presence of a trainer from the operating company.

Forest and animals

Walk-in game enclosures enable direct encounters with local red deer, fallow deer and wild boar. Several packs are kept in the wild boar forest. On Sundays, the wild boar feed can be observed from a viewing platform. Two circular routes (four and six kilometers long) lead through the enclosure.

At the Trappenkamper Tor there is a fenced dog forest with an area of 10 hectares.

Forest education

The ErlebnisWald Trappenkamp is the forest education center of the Schleswig-Holstein State Forests (SHLF). Events and training courses are intended to contribute to environmental education in the region. The ErlebnisWald is certified as an education center. It is possible to train as a “certified forest pedagogue”. There is a special educational program for multipliers. Forest educational offers are also made outside the facility.

Events / gastronomy

The ErlebnisWald is the venue for events, private forest festivals and children's birthdays. There are barbecue areas, barbecue huts, a Finnish kota and a restaurant. The Great Forest Christmas takes place during Advent, with over 80 stalls, a fairy tale tent and a historic craftsman's market. Further events on the subject of forests and nature take place all year round.
