Ermias Sahle-Selassie

Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie Haile-Selassie (born June 14, 1960 in Addis Ababa ) is the President of the Ethiopian Crown Council of Ethiopia and grandson of Emperor Haile Selassie .

Life

Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie was born in 1960 in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa as the only son of Prince Sahle-Selassie Haile-Selassie and grandson Haile Selassies.

He went to school in Ethiopia and England and studied social sciences and business administration at the University of California ( Santa Barbara ) . From 1983 to 1985 he attended the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy .

Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie is committed to the consolidation of democracy in Africa and speaks again and again within the Ethiopian community of the United States on issues affecting the Horn of Africa .

In 1983 he was appointed chairman of the Ethiopian Crown Council , which has set itself the task of reestablishing the imperial tradition and advocating a democratic constitutional state in Ethiopia under a constitutional monarchy . He thus speaks as a representative of the imperial family and succeeds Emperor Amha Selassie I in this function , but the head of the imperial house is Zere Yacobe Selassie .

Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie is in close contact with the American Congress and European politicians, such as B. made clear at a meeting in 2003 with the Vice-President of the Hungarian Parliament.

The chairman of the Crown Council is fluent in Amharic , English and German . He is married and has two sons (twins).
