Ernest Winar , also Ernst Winar , born in Wilhelm Joseph Karl Eichhoff , (born September 3, 1894 in Leiden , † June 28, 1978 there ) was a Dutch actor and director .

Life

Winar was studying at the University of Leiden when he was drafted in 1914, given the general European mobilization. He stayed in uniform for most of the war, but has also appeared in front of the camera since 1916. In 1918 Winar decided to go on stage and made his debut with the Dutch Casino Ensemble . He also continued his film work.

Winar's subject was initially that of the young lover, later he easily switched to the character subject. In April 1920 Ernest Winar left Amsterdam and went to Berlin , where in August of the same year he received the male lead of Fritz in Robert Dinesen's film " The Charity Performance of the Four Devils ". Since then, Ernest Winar played a number of major supporting and occasional leading roles up to the beginning of the sound film. He directed the ' Flappy' film series in 1922, during a flying visit to his old homeland in 1923 and in another five films in 1927/28. Only his problem piece " § 182 underage " deserves artistic attention .

After returning to Holland, Ernest Winar concentrated primarily on working on the stage and only sporadically made movies. After 1955 he devoted himself to dubbing and also worked as an administrator for the air raid in Leiden. Most recently he took on one or the other role in television productions.

Winar was married to British actress Colette Brettel for several years from June 15, 1923 .
