Komödie des Herzens is a German silent film from 1924. The film was based on the short story Maskenball des Herzens by Sophie Hoechstetter .

action

Gerda Werska is a famous dancer. She has been in a relationship with Baron Vinzens for years. But the relationship is strained, because Gerda knows that Baron Vinzens will never marry her, because their relationship is not befitting the baron. She decides to end the relationship and is able to convince Vinzens to ask for Count Inger's daughter at Ingersholm Castle. Baron Vinzens is convinced by Gerda and goes to Ingersholm, where he meets his daughter Inge for the first time. But Inge has a younger sister. Vinzens also falls in love with Daisy. When Gerda goes on tour with her dance ensemble, she also comes to Ingersholm Castle. Vinzens celebrates engagement to Inge, but the appearance of Gerda shows him that he is still very closely linked to Gerda Werska. Gerda can, however, convince Vinzens of the correctness of the marriage with Inge and can now concentrate fully on her dance career.

criticism

Vienna's Neue Freie Presse wrote in 1925: “The game is brilliant. With the figure of this dancer, Lil Dagover increases the series of roles she has created with a particularly memorable creation. In Nigel Barrie, her partner, you get to know a very likeable, handsome lover. (...) The director is smart and tasteful down to the smallest detail. (...) In short: a splendid, charming film that makes you happy and cheerful, without having to be ashamed of it afterwards. "
