Ernst-Moritz Werndl-Schollenried

Ernst-Moritz Werndl-Schollenried (born April 12, 1893 in Munich ; † December 1989 there ) was a German landscape painter and representative of the Munich School .

Career

His father Moritz Engelhardt was a doctor, his mother was Franziska, nee. Werndl. Werndl, who later called himself Werndl-Schollenried, completed an apprenticeship at the Munich School of Applied Arts from 1906 under R. Godron. In 1908 he went to Geneva for the Arlo company and later to Lyon .

From 1912 he worked as a freelance designer for applied arts until he was called in for military service in the First World War . From August 1, 1916, he was interned as a prisoner of war in Lucerne, Switzerland . There he attended the cantonal arts and crafts school. He graduated on April 5, 1917 with a certificate. In 1918 he worked as an interpreter in Munich.

From 1919 he studied at the Munich Academy with Hermann Groeber and Ludwig von Herterich and Franz von Stuck . After completing his studies with an award from the Academy in 1921, he settled down as a freelance painter in Munich, where he a. a. Was a member of the professional association of visual artists.

His work includes landscapes from Bavaria and Austria as well as scenes from rural life. Works (drawings) are owned by the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München .
