Ernst-Ulrich Huster

Ernst-Ulrich Huster (born September 11, 1945 in Welbsleben ) is a German political scientist and university professor . Until his retirement he worked as a professor of political science with a focus on social policy at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe in Bochum and has been a private lecturer in political science at the Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen since 2003 . Huster publishes v. a. on social and distribution policy , social ethics and political sociology . He is considered to be one of the pioneers of wealth and poverty research in the German-speaking area and worked as an expert on the Federal Government's First Poverty and Wealth Report as well as on the First and Second Social Reports of Hesse.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1965, Ernst-Ulrich Huster studied political science and German at the Justus Liebieg University in Giessen and at the LMU in Munich. After the 1st state examination for teaching at grammar schools (upper secondary level), he was employed as a research assistant in Gießen, which he obtained in 1976 with a doctorate in Dr. phil. (Title: "The Politics of the SPD from 1945 to 1950)") concluded. Huster then worked as a university assistant on his habilitation . From 1984 to 1989 Huster switched to the ev.-luth as a research assistant. Regional church of Hanover and completed his habilitation cumulatively in 1986 with the study "The Ethics of the State. On the Establishment of Political Rule in Germany". Since 1989 he has been professor of political science with a focus on social policy at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe in Bochum. In addition to numerous research and teaching projects, from 1993 to 1994 Huster was a German member of the European Commission's "Observatory on National Policies to Combat Social Exclusion" . From 1995 to 2003 he held the office of Rector of the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences in Bochum. Since 2003 he has also worked as a private lecturer in political science at the Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. Since 2013 he has been the chairman of the board of trustees of the Evangelical University of Darmstadt (EHD).
